Dear Ms. Welker,
I am reading Little Women. I am on chapter one, Merry Christmas.
My prediction is that it is going be about four girls (they are sisters) and the Civil War. Why do I think this? I think this because of the picture on the cover of the book and the clothes they are wearing.
While I was reading I had a few questions. My first question is why do the men get paid more then the women? Because they thought that they were hard workers.
Where are the four girls' father? Well the book says that after you get married you go to the Civil War to show how tough they are.
There was a word that I could not figure out and it is possessions. I asked an adult and it means things belonging to you. This is a great book.

Red vs.Yellow
Dear Ms. Welker,
I am reading The Hardy Boys, The Tower Treasure. By Franklin W. Dixon.
I am on chapter 4, Red Versus Yellow. I predict that it is going to be about red things versus yellow things.
The Hardy boys are still trying to find Chet’s car. While I was reading, I had a few questions. My first question is, why was Chet afraid to answer the phone? In the last chapter, Chet had a threatening phone call from the thief. But this time it was not the thief, it was a detective. The detective had some information about the stolen car. But there was a catch. The detective wanted twenty-five dollars from Chet. Then he would take Chet, Frank and Joe (The Hardy Boys) to a place where he thought the car was (a car lot). When they arrive they saw a red car that looked just like Chet’s car.
My second question is, why did the detective think the car was painted bright red? Well, since the car in question is yellow, the detective thinks the thief painted the car before selling it. You will have to read my next blog to find out if that car belongs to Chet.
I did not understand the word intruder. I checked online and it means someone who comes on your property without your permission or is unwelcome.

SLEUTHING
Dear Ms. Welker
I am reading The Hardy Boys, The Tower Treasure, chapter four. Since Frank and Joe are the main characters of the book, I predict that it is going to be about them. Frank and Joe are still on the trail of an auto thief. The handy detective work has paid off with a clue. They found out that the auto thief has been wearing wigs. So off they went to check out the wigs stores in their neighborhood. I had some questions that I couldn’t wait to find the answers to. Why was the auto thief wearing wigs? My second question is why are Joe and Frank going to the wig stores? As I read I found the answer to my first question. The auto thief had been to a lot of wig stores to find a wig for his disguise. He used the wigs to disguise himself as he stole cars. I had a problem with the word sleuthing. Sleuthing means to do detective work. That is what Joe and Frank were doing. This is the best book ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Big Trip!!!!!!
Dear Ms. Welker,
This week, I am reading Portraits of Little Women, Beth’s Story. From the title of the book, I know that the chapter I’m reading will be about Beth. I guess she has a story to tell. Beth lives with her Step-Mom, Dad and three sisters. In chapter 4, Beth and her family were planning to go to New York City. But there was a problem, they could only take one daughter. I had a few questions while I was reading. I wanted to know why Beth’s Dad could not take all four daughters (Beth, Amy, Meg and Jo) to New York City? Well, I found out that it would be too expensive to take all four. The girls had to decide which one of them would go on the trip. They talked to each other to decide which one of them would go. They chose Beth because she never got a chance to go anywhere. The other question I wanted to know was, why are they going to New York City in the first place? The reason why they went to New York City was to attend a wedding and help with the wedding dress. I had trouble with the word trousseau. I checked online and found out that trousseau means a wedding dress or a wedding outfit. By reading chapter 4, I can tell this is going to be a good book. I can’t wait to read more.

WHAT'S THE HOLD UP!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Ms. Welker,
I am reading Hardy Boys, The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon. This book is about solving mysteries. The title of the chapter is The Holdup. I made a prediction before I started to read. My prediction is that there is going to be a hold up somewhere. There were these questions that would not leave my mind. The first question was, where will the hold up take place? The second question that would not leave my mind was, what was being held up? The answer to the first question is, at a car dealership. The answer to the second question is, yes, it was an auto thief. Frank and Joe are asking a farmer if he saw the auto thief. But the farmer is not giving them a straight answer. After asking a lot of people, one guy finally told Frank and Joe that he saw the yellow car and the thief. The thief told the guy not to tell anyone, but he told Frank, Joe and the workers instead. After reading for awhile, I came to a word I did not know. The word is companions. I asked my dad and he said it meant friends or co-workers. I think Frank and Joe are very brave to try and catch the thief. It is also very cool.

SPEED DEMONS
Dear Ms. Welker,
I am reading The Hardy Boys, The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon. Before I started to read, I made a prediction. My prediction was based on the chapter’s title “The Speed Demon”. This chapter is going to be about a person that is a speed demon. Which means this person will be traveling very fast. Maybe in a car or on a scooter. While I was reading I had a few questions. My first question is who is the speed demon? My second question is why they are called the speed demon? I kept reading and found the answer to my question. The first answer to my first question is two boys named Frank and Joe Hardy. They are the speed demons. The second answer to my second question is because they are riding their motorcycles very fast. That is why they are called the speed demons. I did not understand the word embankment. I used my schema and I broke down the word. Embankment means up a steep angle or mound. This is a really interesting book. I can’t wait to finish the rest of the book.
