Red vs.Yellow

Dear Ms. Welker,

I am reading The Hardy Boys, The Tower Treasure. By Franklin W. Dixon.
I am on chapter 4, Red Versus Yellow. I predict that it is going to be about red things versus yellow things.

The Hardy boys are still trying to find Chet’s car. While I was reading, I had a few questions. My first question is, why was Chet afraid to answer the phone? In the last chapter, Chet had a threatening phone call from the thief. But this time it was not the thief, it was a detective. The detective had some information about the stolen car. But there was a catch. The detective wanted twenty-five dollars from Chet. Then he would take Chet, Frank and Joe (The Hardy Boys) to a place where he thought the car was (a car lot). When they arrive they saw a red car that looked just like Chet’s car.

My second question is, why did the detective think the car was painted bright red? Well, since the car in question is yellow, the detective thinks the thief painted the car before selling it. You will have to read my next blog to find out if that car belongs to Chet.

I did not understand the word intruder. I checked online and it means someone who comes on your property without your permission or is unwelcome.

  1. Alyssa,

You wrote a very detailed post, but I would like to see more evidence of thinking...not just telling me what happens. I want to see FAT questions that make you think about the story. I want to see you make connections.
